William C. White II, Partner
From federal criminal defense and white collar criminal defense to civil litigation and local trials, William C. White’s legal experience is varied and deep. Mr. White graduated with an accounting degree from the University of Alabama’s Culverhouse School of Accountancy in 1995 and also earned his law degree in 1998 from the University of Alabama. Since then, his commitment to clients has justified his reputation as an exceptional white collar criminal defense attorney. Though highly qualified and accomplished in white collar criminal defense, Mr. White has a wide variety of experience.
A background of success in a wide variety of criminal cases throughout the nation
With a degree in accounting and a background with insurance and real estate law, Mr. White offers knowledge and skill that make him an ideal white collar criminal defense attorney. However, Mr. White’s skills have also been highly sought after in cases of Homicide, Federal Drug Charges, grand larceny, wire fraud, mail fraud, burglary, Arson, and DUI, all areas in which he has proven to be highly skilled. With experience defending clients in Alabama, California, Florida, Michigan, New Jersey, Illinois, Texas, and other states, Mr. White has experience applicable to courts throughout the nation and suited for a wide variety of cases including Federal Appeals.
Before co-founding Parkman & White in 2003, Mr. White was an Assistant District Attorney for Alabama’s 20th Judicial District. As a prosecutor, he took 75 felony cases to trial. With that background, Mr. White has found great success in local, state, and federal criminal defense including, but not limited to, white collar criminal defense. He is admitted to all federal and state courts in Alabama and also has Bar Admissions in New York, the District of Columbia, the United States Supreme Court, and the United States Court of Appeals 11th Circuit. As a result of his accomplishments and varied legal experience, Mr. White is ranked as one of the top 100 Lawyers by the American Trial Lawyers Association.
A formidable defense attorney regardless of the crime or the stakes involved
Along with partner Jim Parkman, Mr. White was part of the legal defense for former HealthSouth CEO Richard Scrushy. That case was one of the most significant corporate fraud cases in legal history. The United States Department of Justice accused Scrushy of breaking certain laws related to the Sarbanes-Oxley Act designed to hold corporate executives more accountable. Scrushy faced accusations related to more than 2 billion dollars in accounting fraud. Thanks to an aggressive defense by Parkman & White, in 2005 Scrushy was acquitted. This case proved—once again—that the reputation for excellence is well deserved for the legal team at Parkman & White.
